The Trends in Latino-Jewish Relations
As NAA co-founders began to outline a vision for the organization, they sought guidance from the American Jewish organizational model.
- In March 2001, NAA co-hosted the first Latino Jewish National Summit with B’nai B’rith and the National Association of Latino Appointed and Elected Officials (NALEO). As a result, we established the Latino Jewish Leadership Council.
- From 2001 to 2004, the Council engaged in building communication among organizations, including Anti-Defamation League (ADL), American Jewish Committee (AJC), B’nai B’rith, Jewish Council for Public Affairs, Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), National Council of La Raza(NCLR), NALEO and NAA.
- In 2004, the Foreign Ministry and the Jewish Community of Mexico co-hosted a business mission in collaboration with AJC and NAA.
- In 2013, AJC’s Latino and Latin America Institute presented to 2nd Latino Jewish National Summit, including an interview with AJC Executive Director David Harris and NAA Co-Founder Henry Cisneros. See interview HERE.
