MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR OF THE BOARD

I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to the Board and members for selecting me to be your Chair of the Board of NAA Inc.  I view my role as one of service and assisting the NAA members in unleashing their incredible talents and energy as we collaborate to implement the NAA mission.  In simple terms, I believe our mission is to help make real the “American Dream” for the United States Latino community and to help our community give back to our wonderful country.

We ended 2010 on a high note.  Our Economic Summit in Washington DC received high praise from all quarters. In 2011, we will consolidate the new energy and recommitment of NAA members.  Our first priority is to get us all on the same page as to the direction that NAA will take.  Our Strategic Planning Session in February 23-24 in Los Angeles was be very helpful, and it was gratifying to have so many members there and engaged in the pre-planning process.

In my view, we have to crystallize the significant value that NAA brings to its members, including the networking among our members and the resulting friendships with the top Latino business leaders in the country, and valuable access to institutional investors, top corporate leaders, and policy makers in government.  Most importantly, NAA offers unique opportunities for members to be engaged in exciting projects to “give back” to our communities and America.

The Membership Committee did a marvelous job in bringing NAA new members last year.  We will do even better this year.  We will do a second year of the NAA regional tour, including membership roundtables, membership recruitment events, and meetings with pension plans, corporate CEO’s, legislators and key relationships across our mission.  We will also look at new opportunities to further the implementation of the NAA mission with new effective programs.

We will continue to be strong advocates on issues that are central to the NAA mission and the advancement of our community such as the availability capital for Latino entrepreneurs, opportunities in the financial sector and other industries, diversity on public boards, consideration of Latinos for important government positions, and investment in the education of Latinos and all in our nation. Other issues will also capture and engage our attention.

Remember, NAA is a member driven organization.  Our strength is our members and their enthusiasm.  And as it is our tradition, we will continue to seek collaborations with other organizations, corporate America, and public sector leaders to leverage our resources in advancing our common goal of prosperity for Latinos and all in our nation.

Muchas gracias,
