2015 NAA National Tour Recap: Puerto Rico and The Northeast - April 2015


As we look forward to our next stop on the National Tour in Miami on April 22, we wanted to share a few highlights from our visits to Puerto Rico, Washington DC, and New York.

Our National Tour serves as our primary membership and market outreach effort spanning 10 markets. We host member-only roundtable meetings regional stakeholders across the NAA mission and receptions in selected markets.


NAA KICKS OFF NATIONAL TOUR IN PUERTO RICO FEBRUARY 25-28

We launched our National Tour with our Board of Directors Meeting held at the Hotel El Convento in el Viejo San Juan. We also participated in a tour of La Fortaleza, the Governor's mansion, where members had the opportunity to speak with Honorable Alejandro Garcia Padilla, Governor of Puerto Rico.

NORTHEAST TOUR MARCH 17-20

During the visit to our nation's capital NAA met with The White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Small Business Administration and Deloitte. We concluded our visit in Washington D.C. with a congressional Breakfast co-hosted by the NAA and the National Association of Investment Companies (NAIC) to discuss federal pensions and diversity in asset management. We were delighted to have participation from Honorable Maxine Waters, Ranking Member, U.S. House of Representatives and Honorable Juan Vargas, U.S. Representative, California 51st District.

We continued our Northeast tour in the Big Apple with a reception sponsored by Morgan Stanley at the Waldorf=Astoria. The next morning NAA met with Hon. Scott Stringer, New York City Comptroller, NYCERS Chief Investment Officer Scott Evans and members of their executive and investment team. Our day concluded with a meeting with John Adler Director of The Mayor's Office of Pensions and Investments and Chief Pension Investment Advisor.

On the last day of our Northeast Tour, Assemblymember Michael Blake invited NAA members to participate in a Bronx Economic Development Tour to collaborate on the continued revitalization and transformation of the Bronx Borough. The tour concluded with a special lunch held at Charlie's Bar & Kitchen with U.S. SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet, Honorable Jose Serrano, U.S. House of Representatives, New York 15th District, Honorable Ruben Diaz Jr., Bronx Borough President and Honorable Michael Blake, Assemblyman, New York State Assembly.
