Our visit to Puerto Rico will focus on supporting economic development on the island. Just after Hurricane Maria, which devastated many parts of the island and left millions of Americans with no electricity and basic infrastructure for months, a group of NAA members, friends, and peers raised funds for Foundation for Puerto Rico via an extraordinary initiative called Private Equity for Puerto Rico (PE for PR). PE for PR raised $1.5 million, all of which went to Foundation for Puerto Rico at a very critical time. During the chaotic moments after Maria, Foundation for Puerto Rico was a beacon, providing urgent infrastructure to NGOs and businesses in dire need of continuing their activities in the midst of the recovery on the island. Today, Foundation for Puerto Rico continues its critical work, in large part thanks to the work of PE for PR and the NAA members who led the effort.

As an organization, the NAA’s mission is wealth creation for the Latino community. Our visit to Puerto Rico on November 8-10 will support this mission and will build on the impactful philanthropy of PE for PR by convening investment managers and other business leaders from across the U.S. in Puerto Rico to INVEST. The opportunities on the island have never been better and we are excited to invite you, our friends, to see for yourself what this burgeoning business ecosystem has to offer. We have partnered with local accelerators Guayacán and Parallel 18 to identify local Puerto Rico companies looking for early-stage and growth capital, and all NAA guests will have the opportunity to hear from and invest in the companies.
