A seasoned marketer and devoted community champion, Mónica oversees AARP’s Hispanic strategies related to brand building, membership development and community outreach and engagement.  In this role, Mónica is charged with developing culturally relevant strategies and messages for building brand awareness and familiarity, as well as programs and content to ensure relevance and to build trust in the Latino community.  She spearheads association-wide planning specific to the Hispanic audience to facilitate positive, social change.  Additionally, she leverages insight and learning from the Hispanic audience to infuse into AARP’s mainstream efforts to ensure the association remains relevant as the U.S. population becomes increasingly diverse.  

Mónica’s 15 years of work experience spans both the corporate and non-profit sectors.  Prior to joining AARP in 2011, she was the Director of Operations for the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI), where she successfully led the management and execution of a $10 million capital campaign.  In the corporate sector, Mónica was Operations Manager for the largest industrial electrical and mechanical motor repair shop in the Caribbean, successfully increasing year-over-year revenue.  She earned her Masters in Public Administration at Baruch College as National Urban Fellow, an academic and leadership program designed to enhance the skills of social change leaders.  Mónica holds a BA from Hunter College and is Phi Betta Kappa.
